CINCINNATI (FOX19) -

Hoxworth Blood Center issued an emergency appeal for blood on Monday as a heavy snow falls throughout the Tri-State, keeping many residents off the roads.

The winter storm has canceled blood drives and will likely impact drives scheduled for Tuesday, according to Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson.

“We are asking that all eligible donors make an appointment to donate this week and encourage safety while driving on treacherous roads,” said Lipton.

All blood donors Monday through Saturday will receive double points in the ‘Premier Donor Club.' These points can be redeemed for restaurant gift cards, movie tickets, and more, Hoxworth says.

Hoxworth operates eight local donor centers in Anderson, Blue Ash, Downtown, Ft. Mitchell, Mason, Tri-County, Western Hills and the Hoxworth Center adjacent to University Hospital. Walk-ins are welcome and appointments are encouraged. Call (513) 451-0910 or visit hoxworth.org.
