Residents and the fire department in this western Hamilton County community are teaming up to fight the heroin epidemic.
They are holding a joint heroin addiction awareness event 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Clippart Instrument Laboratory, 7309 Colerain Ave.
They are expected to discuss the ongoing problem of heroin abuse, painkiller addiction and steps the community can take to help.
They will also be looking at what other areas are doing to curb the problem.
This comes at a time where Ohio is seeing a record heroin overdose deaths.
Heroin overdoses shot up 37 percent between 2011 and 2012, when they hit 680, according to the Ohio Department of Health.
