PREBLE COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A mother and her ex-boyfriend face criminal charges after a weekend fire in Preble County killed the woman's two children.

The fire happened Saturday at a home on State Route 35, between Eaton and West Alexandria.

Investigators said the two children, Malea Bradburn, 10, and her brother Malachi Bradburn, 9, were home alone during the fire.

Court documents show their mother, Chastity Hall, left the kids home alone for hours and went out, even coming home to freshen up her makeup at 1:45 a.m., then going back out. Firefighters found the children dead huddled in the basement.

Her ex-boyfriend, Arcadio Escobar, was said to be in the home before the fire. He's facing a felony charge of trespassing. Investigators said there is insufficient evidence at this point to justify filing criminal charges against Escobar in connection with the fire and the children's deaths.

If convicted, Hall faces six years in prison. Reports said that Hall has posted her bond, which was set at $50,000. A grand jury is expected to get the case on Monday.
