A Westwood mother appeared in court on Thursday for allegations she slapped a 5-year-old on her son's school bus.

N'Doumbe Gueye, 30, is charged with assault for the Jan. 28 incident.

Gueye allegedly boarded her son's bus in the 3400 block of Anaconda Drive and slapped the face of a child that was not her own, court documents state. Officials say cameras on the bus captured the incident.

Gueye told police that her 6-year-old son complained another student on his bus had hit him several times, according to documents.

“She became very upset over this news and told her son to point out the kid who had been hitting him,” states the complaint.

Gueye was released and ordered to stay away from the child.

Janet Walsh, Director of the Public Affairs Department with Cincinnati Public Schools, released a statement saying.

"The arrest of a parent for allegedly boarding a bus to slap a 5-year-old child represents a regrettable and highly isolated incident. When school authorities were notified, they immediately referred the matter to police, which resulted in the parent's arrest. Fortunately, the vast majority of Cincinnati Public Schools parents understand appropriate behavior regarding their own and other children. Should concerns about interactions of their children with other students arise, they refer the matter to teachers and principals rather than taking matters into their own hands."
