COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - Covington Police are currently conducting a counter drug trafficking operation within its city limits.

Police Chief Spike Jones says that the operation is a direct result of complaints filed by citizens on suspected drug trafficking operations.

According to Covington Police, there are a total of 53 wanted subjects from this investigation. Out of those 53, 24 have been arrested and are in custody.

“We are truly blessed to have such an engaged and supportive community as our partners in creating a safer Covington for everyone. I can't thank our citizens enough for their assistance in this decisive public safety operation,” Chief Jones said.

Officials say covert operations of the Covington Police Department's D-Team have worked over the a period of four months to independently substantiate the complains and undertake Thursday's enforcement action.
