The Bengals re-signed free agent linebacker Rey Maualuga to a three-year deal on Thursday.

Maualuga, a second-round draft pick in 2009, has spent all six years of his NFL career with the Bengals averaging nearly 100 tackles a season. Despite suffering a hamstring injury in 2014, Maualuga played a huge role on the defense with Vontaze Burfict sidelined for most of the season.
“Rey is a physical force and a great teammate in our locker room,” said Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. “He's a hard-working, dedicated player who continues to get better. As we have put together playoffs teams the last four years, we've
said more than once that a huge key is keeping productive players in our system, and this is another big step in that plan.”
Maualuga, 28, has five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and five interceptions in his career.
