The University of Cincinnati Bearcats finished off the regular season in impressive fashion beating the Memphis Tigers 77-65.
The Bearcats used a blistering start and strong rebounding to keep the Tigers at bay Sunday afternoon.
UC began the game on a 21-4 run, holding at least a nine point lead throughout the game.
The 'Cats were led by forward Octavius Ellis. The junior recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Jermaine Sanders celebrated his Senior Day with 12 points, including 3 three-pointers.
"It couldn't be storybook better for him to come in and play the way he played," said interim head coach Larry Davis about Sanders.
UC will ride a five-game winning streak into the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The Bearcats will be the three-seed in the tournament and will face the winner of South Florida and Connecticut on Friday at 9 p.m.
"I've had a hell of a time. Doesn't get any better than this, but we aren't done yet," Davis said.
"It was great. I'm just driving the car temporarily. I don't want to let Mick down," Davis said about Mick Cronin being at the game.
