All lanes reopened eastbound I-275 near Dixie Highway after fatal accident


A 65-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in an accident on eastbound I-275 near Dixie Highway on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 7:20 a.m., closing the highway for about two hours.

According to the  Erlanger Police Department, a Chevrolet S10 came to a stop in the lane of traffic on eastbound I-275. The driver of a full-sized transport van was not able to stop in time to avoid the S10.

The driver of the van, 79-year-old male from Covington, was transported to St. Elizabeth in Edgewood where he was treated for his injuries. The 65-year-old female driver of the S10, from Tennessee, was originally take to St. Elizabeth but then was taken via AirCare to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The name of the victim has not been released pending family  notification.
