BOWLING GREEN, KY (FOX19) - The Holy Cross girls defeated Allen County Scottsville 35-32 to win their first state basketball championship on Sunday.
With 5.5 seconds left in regulation, Abby Hassert's layup and free throw sealed the win for the Indians. It was Hassert's only field goal of the game, and she made it count. Deja Turner scored a game-high 13 points. Mayhaus added 10 points.

It's the third time this season Holy Cross has won a winner-take-all game in dramatic fashion. The Indians won the All “A” Classic on Mayhaus' last second last shot earlier this season, and on Friday in the KHSAA Elite Eight, Deja Turner's game-winner with three seconds to play helped Holy Cross take down Elizabethtown.

It's not only the first state basketball championship for the Holy Cross girls, it's the first state title for any Northern Kentucky girls basketball team in KHSAA history.
