HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

A motorist trying to beat a train crashed, blocking four railroad crossings for about two hours Monday.

The 25-year-old woman was one of two cars that drove around protective gates at the crossing on Dayton and 5th streets as a northbound CSX train approached about 7 a.m., said Sgt. Ed Buns, police spokesman.

The other vehicle cleared the crossing, but the woman's drove into the train's path.

"Witnesses advised that the vehicle went around lowered crossing gates, which also had flashing lights and audible warnings of the approaching train," Buns said.

She suffered just minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Police cited her with failure to comply with visible and audible warnings of an approaching train.

Four crossings in all were blocked due to the accident: Dayton Street; Butler Street; Maple Avenue and Ludlow Street.
