A 23-year-old teacher's aide is facing charges after allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old high school student.

Hannah Heekin, a teacher's aide employed by Great Oaks and assigned to Roger Bacon High School, is charged with two counts of sexual battery after police said she twice engaged in sexual conduct with a student from Roger Bacon.

"They've had a relationship for three months. They've hooked up, from what they've said, on two previous occasions. This would have been the third,” said Lt. Bill Ungruhe of the St. Bernard Police Department.

St. Bernard Police Department said officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Police stopped the vehicle in Ludlow Grove Park.

"Her new job just started in January. What are we, March? Two months into a new job and this happens,” said Harry Snyder, president of Great Oaks Career Campuses.

According to court papers, Heekin and the student had relations in a Springfield Township park, and in a Roger Bacon classroom. That paperwork says that Heekin admitted to those incidents.

"It just makes you sick that something like this happens. It just makes you sick that we have to even worry about it, let alone get a phone call on it,” Snyder said.

The investigation that led to Tuesday's arrest started when concerned neighbors called police for a suspicious vehicle driving up and down a St. Bernard street.

Heekin appeared in court Wednesday morning where a judge set her bond at $2,000 and ordered her to stay away from the student.

"They thought these people were maybe going to be doing a home invasion because they're nervous about a homicide that recently occurred. So, they called it in. They actually followed the vehicle until our officers could get there,” Ungruhe told FOX19 NOW.

Heekin was hired by Great Oaks for a satellite program at Roger Bacon. Officials there say she is a recent college grad and had a clean background check.

"We were excited to provide her the opportunity,” Snyder said.

Great Oaks officials tell FOX19 NOW that Heekin has been suspended pending the result of her case in the legal system.

In a statement, Roger Bacon principal Steven Schad said Tuesday about Heekin's arrest:

St. Bernard Police notified Roger Bacon High School today that an investigation is underway regarding alleged inappropriate conduct between a teacher and a student. The teacher, on temporary assignment from Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development, has been removed from her position at Roger Bacon. The teacher will not return to Roger Bacon High School. We are cooperating fully with the authorities. The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the members of our Roger Bacon community.

"It's a disappointment. We're disappointed for the teacher, but also sad for the students that they have to go through this experience,” Snyder said.

Snyder told FOX19 NOW that Heekin's arrest is the third sexually-oriented arrest involving their employees in the last year.

Heekin is currently at the Hamilton County Justice Center. She's charged with two counts of sexual battery.
