BATAVIA, OH (FOX19) -

A former Scarlet Oaks teacher will be sentenced at 1 p.m. Wednesday after pleading guilty last month to two felony counts of sexual battery involving a student.

By pleading out, Aaron Brown avoids having to register as a sex offender.

Clermont County Common Pleas Court Judge Victor Haddad could put Brown on probation or send him to prison for up to 10 years.

The former math instructor from Milford remains free on his own recognizance and is still in a relationship with the 18-year-old student.

According to court records, the offense occurred on or about June 1 through Oct. 9 in Clermont County. Though the girl is of legal age, prosecutors charged Brown because he still violated state law prohibiting teacher-student relationships.

The former teacher resigned from his position at Scarlet Oaks on Oct. 13.

Brown is the second Scarlet Oaks teacher within a year to be accused of having sex with a student.

In August, former culinary arts teacher Dan Knecht was charged with six counts of sexual battery for allegedly having sex with three of his students on campus and in private residences.

He faces up to 30 years in prison.
