Car Deliberately Parked On Tracks

Officials say car was deliberately placed on tracks

Officials say it appears a vehicle was deliberately placed on the railroad tracks in suburban Los Angeles, triggering this morning's deadly train derailment.

After speaking with the driver of the Jeep Cherokee that was left parked on the tracks Los Angeles Sheriff Lee Baca says the man is suicidal and will face homicide charges

Ten people were killed and about 200 injured when a commuter train hit the SUV. Police say the driver has been identified as Juan Manuel Alvarez, 26, of Compton. They say he parked his SUV on the tracks, but changed his mind about dying and jumped out of the vehicle.

The Metrolink train hit the SUV and  then came off the tracks, sideswiping another commuter train. Glendale police chief Randy Adams says terrorism was not involved.
