FALMOUTH, KY (FOX19) -

The former Falmouth police chief was indicted on Wednesday for allegedly using funds in a drug task force account for personal use.

Mark Posey is alleged to have taken over $10,000 in funds from a drug task force account. According to the indictment, Posey is said to ask for donations from local businesses for drug cases and then use the donated money for personal use.

Kentucky Attorney General, Jack Conway, said Posey is also accused of purchasing a gun from the Falmouth Police Department's account and then selling the gun to a friend for a higher amount.

Posey was suspended on Jan. 29, and eventually resigned from his position amid allegations.

He is being held at the Franklin County Regional Jail on $10,000 bond. If convicted, Posey faces up to 20 years in prison.
