CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A $5 million bond is set for the College Hill mother accused of beheading her own 3-month-old baby.

Deasia Watkins, 20, appeared in a Hamilton County Courtroom on Thursday and entered a not guilty plea. Watkins remained silent as her attorney asked the judge to send her to a treatment facility over jail.

More details are coming to light regarding what Deasia Watkins endured as a child.

Watkins suffers from with Postpartum Psychosis. Her mother, Tina Johnson, also suffered mental illness, court records show.

Watkins and her brother were taken away from her mother when Watkins was just 3-years-old because she didn't follow through on treatment for schizo-affective disorder or substance abuse.

Court records also show her mother left her with inappropriate care, including in a home with a teenage babysitter who was raped while Deasia Watkins was there.

Watkins' father went to prison that same year.

On March 15, a child inside a home on Waldman lane found newborn Jayniah lying on the counter with a severed head. Jobs and Family Services took custody of the child earlier this month, but a family member reportedly allowed her to see Jayniah.

A Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted Watkins on an aggravated murder charge Wednesday. If convicted, she will not receive the death penalty.
