Man dies after jumping from burning Northside home

A Northside resident died Friday after jumping from a second-floor window to escape a fire.

Crews met heavy fire and damage to the rear of the building when they responded around 11:40 a.m. to the 1400 block of Apjones.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to Cincinnati fire officials. 

The fire caused $40,000 in damages and displaced one resident. 

According to a release, Heavy Rescue Unit 14 was one of the units that responded to the fire Friday. HR14 is the unit that fallen firefighter Daryl Gordon was apart of.  Gordon died Thursday morning after searching for victims inside a burning Madisonville apartment complex
