Plant Shooting

Authorities say two dead in shooting at Jeep plant

Authorities say an employee of a Jeep production plant in Toledo shot and killed a supervisor and wounded two others before killing himself last night.

Authorities say the wounded are less seriously injured. One was shot in the arm. Police identified the gunman as 54-year-old Myles Meyers of Toledo. He died after shooting himself in the head. His body was found in the office where the others were shot. Fifty-year-old Roy Thacker of Oregon died at Saint Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He and another male victim were supervisors. Hospital officials didn't release the conditions of the two other victims. Police called in a bomb squad because they noticed wires coming out from under the gunman's coat but Navarre says the wires held the gun when the man entered the plant.

Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre says the man also had a stuffed animal wired to the back of his neck. A company spokeswoman says Meyers had been disciplined recently but she says she doesn't have the details.
