CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A special piece of memorabilia will be returned to a former Cincinnati police officer's family.

During an audit in the Hamilton Police property room, a Cincinnati Police retirement ring was found officials said.

An investigation showed the ring had been given to Cincinnati Police Specialist, Ellsworth 'Ozzie' Griener. Griener served on the police force from 1943 until his retirement in 1968.

Griener passed away in 1972.

The ring will be presented Griener's son, daughter and grandson in a ceremony on Thursday at the Cincinnati Police Museum.
