HAMILTON TWP (Fox19) -

Apparently Warren County swingers aren't so sexy after all.

A&E canceled critically panned 'Neighbors with Benefits' after just two of the 9 episodes aired, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The reality show, revolving around couples in a Hamilton Township subdivision exploring the self-proclaimed swinger lifestyle, sparked immediate controversy and prompted additional police patrols.

Community leaders claimed the show could put an unwanted spotlight on the area. Some residents called for a boycott of its advertisers. Meanwhile, the group One Million Moms implored A&E to cancel the show altogether.

Critics echoed that sour sentiment, with Variety TV Columnist Brian Lowry describing a scene of the show as “manufactured drama.”

“Even if the audience suspends disbelief, the benefits associated with watching this show are barely worth getting out of — or for that matter, into — bed over,” Lowry wrote.

A network spokeswoman did not respond to requests for comment Monday morning.

The network's website no longer lists the show as part of its lineup.
