FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - A burst of commercial development is bringing new retailers and restaurants to Florence Square on Mall Road.

Burlington Coat Factory is expected to open this fall in the former Kroger building that has been mostly vacant for a year.

The 44,000 square-foot store will bring 50 to 100 jobs and sell clothes for women, men and children, as well as furniture. It also will include a Baby Depot.

Two other businesses including Tom+Chee are opening nearby. Anchor Associates tells FOX19 NOW they are working with a family, sit-down restaurant to occupy the other eatery location.

And, just a few feet away from Florence Square, the Florence Heights development is under construction on Mall Road.

FOX19 NOW first told you about the Florence Heights development in October.  Menard's and Costco are the anchors and should open this fall. Dave and Buster's and Planet Fitness also are coming.

Much of the land has been cleared and is ready for crews to begin building.
