MONROE, OH (FOX19) - A worker was taken by Care Flight after being injured in a Monroe chemical plant explosion Friday afternoon.

Monroe officials say they received a 911 hang up call at approximately 12:38 p.m. from Alfrebro Inc. located at 1055 Reed Road.

According to officials, employees at Alfrebro reported that a tank exploded.

The one employee injured was transported to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton by Care Flight. His injures are unknown at this time.

Officials say the Monroe Fire Department is investigating, but it appears employees were transferring material from one tank to another and one of the vessels failed causing a small fire.
