A gunman fired shots at a Dearborn County sheriff's deputy and one of his own relatives and barricaded himself inside a garage for several hours Sunday before he was found passed out.

David Huddleston, 59, was taken to Dearborn County Hospital for unknown medical problems just after 11 p.m., sheriff's officials said.

They encountered him when a deputy went to a Huddleston Lane residence for a welfare check on Raymond Huddleston with Judy Muncy, Raymond Huddleston's daughter.

As soon as they arrived, David Huddleston started firing at them.
