AURORA, IN (FOX19) -
A pregnant mother is among seven suspects facing charges for incidents involving heroin and other illegal substances, Aurora police announced Monday.
They credited the public with reporting the drug abusers.
"With the diligence and watchful eye of our citizens, we were able to work together to combat criminal activity in our community," said Police Chief Joshua Daugherty.
Officers were called to the Steak n Shake drive-thru about 2 p.m. Friday for suspected female overdose. They found a syringe and other controlled substances.
Patricia Means, 32, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance.
Two men also were charged: Eric Wheeler faces counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance; Robert Kinnett is accused of visiting a common nuisance.
A couple hours later, police responded to the parking lot of Shoe Sensation on Green Boulevard when they received a report of a man injecting heroin in a black Toyota. They arrested Chaz Watson, 26, on charges of possession of heroin and possession of paraphernalia and Mary Gardner, who they say is six months pregnant.
Inside the store, police found Kayla McGovern and Harold Fraasman Jr. McGovern, who was wanted on parole violation, was also charged with possession of heroin. Fraasman was arrested for a drug warrant out of Hamilton County.
