A 66-year-old man who escaped from a prison 40 years ago turned himself in so he could get medical attention, Kentucky authorities announced overnight.

Deputies with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office arrested Clarence David Moore of Frankfort, about 5 p.m. Monday, the agency announced on its Facebook page.

He is held at the Franklin County Regional Jail.

Moore escaped from the Harrison County prison in the 1970s, according to WBTV. He told deputies he had stolen two televisions.

The man suffers "a lot of medical problems" now and can't walk, the sheriff's office said. He told deputies he hasn't been able to get treatment because he doesn't have a Social Security card or any viable identification, WBTV reports.

He also had an arrest warrant for contempt of court in Franklin County.
