CAMP WASHINGTON, OH (FOX19) -

The on-ramp from Hopple Street to westbound Interstate 74 opened early Wednesday, marking another major milestone in a $90 million to upgrade the highway.

The new ramp is located on the north side of the bridge, across from the current northbound I-75 exit.

While work is moving forward, drivers will continue to face road blocks because there will not be access to northbound  I-75.

Drivers trying to enter I-75 from Hopple will need to continue using the ramp from Central Parkway near Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.

The work is part of the Mill Creek Expressway Project and is designed to update I-75 from the Western Hill Viaduct to I-74. Once  work is complete, there will be additional lanes, a new ramp design and new bridges.

Ohio Department of Transportation officials said  the new interchange is going to provide better access to hospitals, colleges and businesses.

Initially, all the work was expected to be complete by late 2016.
