HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

Alcohol is a factor in a crash that closed Interstate 275 on the Carroll C. Cropper Bridge early Thursday, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of a Dodge Durango eastbound on I-275 rear-ended a Smiths towing truck just before 3 a.m., sheriff's officials said.

The Durango driver was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with possible life-threatening injuries.

The Villa Hills resident's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the towing truck was not hurt.

Both motorists wore seatbelts.

Both sides of the highway closed for more than an hour while authorities investigated. The highway fully reopened by 5 a.m.

The bridge, which crosses the Ohio River, is located about 20 miles downstream from Cincinnati.
