NORTH AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati fire crews rescued two people trapped on the top floor of a two-alarm apartment fire early Thursday.

Firefighters responded to the three-story building at Marion Avenue near Dakota Avenue about 6:15 a.m. A resident called 911 to report being trapped with another person in a unit without a balcony.

Fire crews rescued them via aerial ladders. They were treated for minor smoke inhalation and refused transportation to a hospital.

Other residents already had escaped when fire trucks arrived.

The blaze was quickly knocked down in about 10 minutes and confined to the apartment of origin.

Unattended cooking in the kitchen started the blaze, fire officials said.

Damage was set at $15,000.

One person was displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting.
