Miami U. unveils new indoor sports complex

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Miami University will cut the ribbon this weekend on a new $13 million indoor sports complex.

The David and Anita Dauch Indoor Sports Center is a 91,000 square-foot facility that houses a 120 yard football field and netting for baseball, softball and gold, four spring lanes, a high jump area and a long jump pit.

University officials said the project was funded almost entirely through private donations.

Former Miami University and current Pittsburgh Steeler quarterback Ben Roethlisberger donated $1 million. The field bears his name.

The indoor sports complex is located just north of Yager Stadium.

All 19 varsity athletic teams will use the facility for training. After hours, it is also open to intramural sports.

An open house and ribbon cutting is planned for noon Saturday prior to the spring football scrimmage.
