OVER-THE-RHINE (FOX19) -

Bond was set at $500,000 over the weekend for the suspect in a weekend homicide near a popular bar in this Cincinnati neighborhood.

Deandre Bandy, 20, remains at the Hamilton County jail on a murder charge in connection with the Friday death of Justin Madaris, 21.

Police responded after shots were fired just after 7 p.m. near a basketball court near Neon's Unplugged on 13th and Sycamore streets.

At least two people exchanged gun fire when a third person, Madaris, was hit.

He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center but died.

Bandy was also shot and tried to run off. He went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating what led to the violence.

Captain Mike John said that this is the fifth shooting in OTR this year.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
