EDGEWOOD, KY (FOX19) -

Police across Northern Kentucky are following up on leads from the attempted abduction reported last week of a 10-year-old girl.

Officers are still searching for the suspect's white panel van.  Tips from the community have flooded the Edgewood Police Department, and some of the leads are promising, police officials say.

The girl told authorities she was walking on Roundhill Court, not far from Saint Pius and R.C. Hinsdale schools, about 5 p.m. April 20 when the van rolled up with a male driver.

He told the child her mother was hurt, so she needed to get into the vehicle and go with him.

When she informed him that was not possible, he responded: "I mean your father." She told him she was going to call the police, and he sped away.

The incident especially concerns police because they say it's similar to one reported the week prior in neighboring Grant County.

The child in that case described the van as a square-bodied, white panel or work van.

Anyone with information is asked to call Edgewood police through the Kenton County emergency communication center: 859-356-3191.
