BROWN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A double murder suspect appeared before a judge Monday and pleaded not guilty in connection to the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old woman.

Michael Wilcox, 27, "implicated" himself in two slayings last week, according to Brown County officials.

Wilcox was in court Monday for charges related to the death of Courtney Fowler. He faces charges of two counts of murder with firearm specifications, two counts of felonious assault and two counts of failure to comply.  His attorney cited reasons of insanity in the not guilty plea.

He will remain in Brown County jail on a $2 million bond until his next court hearing on May 12 at 12:30 p.m.

Fowler was shot to death several times inside his home in the 7500 block of J. Bolender Road near Felicity on April 16.

Wilcox told an investigator at the jail he "was listening to music and the music was telling him to do something crazy," court records show. "Michael stated he retrieved (sic) a hand gun from the side of his bed, and shot Courtney Fowler two times, once in the front and once in the back."

Her body was found after one of her relatives grew concerned about her, went to the home and found her body. Smith said she was shot "several times."

Wilcox was also charged on April 22 in connection for the murder of 27-year-old Zachary Gilkison. Gilkison's body was discovered in his home in the 800 block of Main Street in Elsmere, Ky the morning after Wilcox was arrested.

He will appear in Kenton County court after Wilcox is finished in Brown County court, officials said.
