ADAMS COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

A school bus with 62 elementary school students aboard was involved in a head-on collision in Adams County Thursday.

The collision happened on West State Route 125 and Mahogany Road at around 3:46 p.m.

A preliminary investigation by officials revealed that a 17-year-old female, from Otway, was driving a black 2007 Ford Focus that went left of center striking an Adams County/Ohio Valley School District 2004 Freightliner school bus that was being operated by Keith Williams, 58, of Peebles.

Officials say the juvenile was flown from the scene by Air Care to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with possible serious/non-life threatening injuries.

Williams and 11 children were transported to Adams County Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Authorities say both drivers appeared to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and drugs or alcohol use are not suspected by either driver.

The crash is still under investigation.
