ROSELAWN (FOX19) -

Firefighters rescued three residents from a two-alarm apartment fire that temporarily displaced 15 people late Sunday, Cincinnati fire officials said.

Two men were unconscious when they were found in apartment #6 on Sparkle Drive near Newbedford Avenue just before 11 p.m. Firefighters pulled them from the building and began resuscitation efforts.

The men were taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Their names, ages and conditions were not released.

A third victim was rescued from the third story. That person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Fire officials credit working smoke detectors with alerting residents when flames broke out in a rear basement apartment in the 22-unit building.

The structure was filled with heavy smoke as firefighters went inside. They knocked the blaze down in 10 minutes.

The cause of the fire, which was contained to the apartment of origin, remains under investigation.  Crews remain on scene early Monday, monitoring hot spots.

Damage was set at $20,000.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
