Watch for major delays beginning Monday on Interstate 275 as it crosses the Carroll Lee Cropper Bridge linking Kentucky to southeastern Indiana.

The bridge is restricted to one lane in each direction as crews undertake $6.7 million in routine maintenance, a closure that is expected to cause major backups between both states in Boone and Dearborn counties.

A new concrete bridge deck overlay will be placed and, for the first time in the bridge's history, roadway lighting will be installed.

Beginning in late June, the westbound bridge will be shut down with traffic diverted to the eastbound side.

Some 33,000 motorists travel this bridge every day. Construction is scheduled for completion in November.

Also beginning this week, a $3.1 million median cable barrier project on Interstate 71 in Boone County could lead to weeknight closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Workers are installing 24.5 miles of cable to reduce the chance of crossover collisions. Construction begins Monday in Oldham County and
will move through, Henry, Carroll and Boone Counties.
