BROWN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

Brittany Stykes would have been 24-years-old Monday but sadly her parents say her only gift this year is a grave stone.

In August of 2013, police found Stykes along State Route 68 in Brown County shot to death inside her car. Her infant daughter, Aubrey, was also shot in the head but survived. While officials say they have made progress in her case, no one has been charged with Stykes' murder.

"It's going to be almost 2 years and I still cry every day for my daughter and I imagine I will for the rest of my life,” said Mary Dodson, Stykes' mother.

"People still need to hear the story and know what is going on and know that we are still looking for the answers,” said Felisha England, a family friend.

On Monday, in honor of what would have been Brittany Stykes' 24th birthday, her family and friends gathered to release balloons in her favorite color orange near the murder scene. Each balloon Dodson says has a note for Brittany and for the finders of the balloon.

Dodson says they will continue to hold events like these to keep her daughter's name alive and officials searching for her killer.

"I just hope that it's not on the back burner somewhere. It's been two years. I need closure and we need justice,” said Dodson.

Dodson says there is a $10,000 reward for information in Brittany Stykes' case. If you have any information, you are encouraged to contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office.
