Memorial Hall closes for $7.8 million renovation

OVER-THE-RHINE, OH (FOX19 NOW) - The doors at historic Memorial Hall are closed to the public as a major renovation looms this summer.
The $7.8 million project is funded through a mixture of public and private funding, with Hamilton County taxpayers footing about $1.5 million of the bill.

Adjacent to Music Hall on Elm Street, the facility that hosts performances and social and business gatherings is receiving new and wider seats, an elevator capable of carrying a piano to the stage, upgraded acoustical and lighting treatments that will allow for better control and additional restrooms.

It also will get a new roof and, for the first time ever, air conditioning and a new heating unit.

Renovations are expected to be complete by fall 2016.

The last time this building was closed for repairs and renovations was 1992.
