Xavier basketball announces four home games with regional flair

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Xavier University men's basketball team announced that four non-conference homes games on next season's schedule will have strong regional ties.

Xavier will open its regular season inside the Cintas Center on Friday, Nov. 13 against the Miami Redhawks. Miami and XU have met 100 times, but the two teams did not play last season.

Northern Kentucky University will make the short trip to Xavier early in the season on Monday, Nov. 23. NKU has played the Musketeers in exhibition games, but the teams have not played in the regular season since the 1978-79 season.

Former Midwestern Collegiate Conference rivals will clash on Tuesday, Dec. 8 when Wright State visits Xavier.

The jewel of the regional rivalries on the Musketeers' schedule will be the 83rd meeting with rival Cincinnati Bearcats in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout on Saturday, Dec. 12.

Last season, Xavier advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament before losing to the Arizona Wildcats.
