Cincinnati firefighters said they rescued several residents including newborn babies and children from a three-alarm fire in a Blair Avenue apartment building early Friday.

Flames were reported in a kitchen of the four-story building about 5:45 a.m. at Blair Avenue near Reading Road, according to emergency communication reports.

Officials say eight people were evacuated before crews knocked the fire down by 6:10 a.m.

A family with children is displaced. Fire officials called for the American Red Cross to help them find temporary lodging, food and clothing.

One person went to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
