The US Army's top general is in Fairfield today to tour the southwest Ohio plant that produces armored Humvees for American servicemen fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. General Peter Schoomaker is touring the O'Gara-Hess plant this morning to get a firsthand look at production. He also plans to meet with plant officials and speak to workers. The plant puts armor on Humvees. The armor is designed to protect servicemen from roadside bombs and other explosive devices. Some servicemen in Iraq have complained that they've had to scrounge for equipment and armor for their vehicles.
