The body found in a Clermont County wooded area Monday was identified Wednesday as an 18-year-old woman reported missing six months ago.

It's not yet clear how Paige Alexandra Harp died, Union Township police said.

She was reported missing on Nov. 9, he said, declining further comment due to the ongoing investigation.

A homemaker discovered the teen's remains just inside the tree line along Willowbrook properties.

Authorities said the person was dead for at least three weeks but was so badly decomposed a gender or race could not be determined. They did predict it would turn out to be a woman based on her denim clothing.

"That there was definitely different. You could definitely smell it. It wasn't a dead deer or a dog or a cat or something like that,” said Victor Baker, a resident of Willowbrook.

Jean Crane says just yesterday her neighbor and friend told her of an odd smell coming from behind her home. While inspecting the area, Crane says her friend Stella found the remains and called for help.

"I just hope they figure out who it was and why. I mean someone has lost a loved one. Someone who is missing or who has gone missing. You just never know,” said Crane.

“It's weird because 21 years I've been here and I know a lot of people that have been here longer than that and nothing like this has ever happened,” said Baker.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Union Township police: (513) 752-1230.
