LOWER PRICE HILL (FOX19) -

A robbery suspect is accused of impersonating a police officer and beating a man on the street.

Jonathan Proffitt pulled what appeared to be a gun and identified himself as a police officer Tuesday on State Avenue near Glenway Avenue in Lower Price Hill, court records show.

When the victim tried to walk away and yelled for help, Proffitt grabbed him around the neck and punched his face, according to Cincinnati police.

Then he stole property from the man's pockets before running off.

He was arrested shortly after and booked into the Hamilton County jail on charges of aggravated robbery and impersonating a police officer.

Proffitt is held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
