HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

Federal officials announced Thursday they seized more than 52 pounds of cocaine at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers X-rayed a package after a K-9 sniffed out the drugs, hidden inside a shipment from Central America marked as motorized winches.

This is one of several high-profile, international cocaine smuggling attempts CBP officers said they have discovered recently.

They also have intercepted cocaine glued between layers of laminate flooring, concealed in steel equipment, and hidden within day planners and portfolio covers.

“CBP works tirelessly with our international law enforcement counterparts to combat drug smuggling throughout the world,” said Richard Gillespie, CBP Cincinnati port director. “These interceptions are excellent examples of how our highly trained officers continue to use their experience, knowledge, and all available resources to detect and interdict the flow of illegal narcotics.”
