OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Oxford Police are searching for two suspects after an armed robbery Sunday.

The robbery occurred in a home in the 300 block of North Poplar Street near West Church Street just before 1:25 p.m.

According to police, the victims reported that two white males followed them into their house where a physical confrontation occurred.  Weapons were displayed, and items were taken.

"Something like this has never happened in my years at Miami,” said a roommate living at the home that was robbed.

As students spent Sunday moving out from housing around Oxford, what happened at that North Poplar Street home on Sunday is something roommates there won't forget about this school year.

"From what I was told from my roommate, the guys just walked in and they were asked, "can we help you?"  Then they closed the door behind them.  Immediately one guy had a gun.  The other guy had a knife,” said that same roommate, who didn't want to be identified.

That roommate, a junior at Miami, is still shaken and not want to be identified.  He thought what he was hearing was a celebration from a roommate and his family - parents, siblings and all - about graduating on Sunday.

"I didn't think anything of it for a little bit then it just got really intense and loud.  Very strange.  Then I heard the phrase, 'Can you just put the gun down,'” he said.

That's when he jumped out of bed, locked his door and called 911.

"I didn't know if they were gathering people into one specific area, if they were going to start knocking doors down to see if anybody else was in there, if they just planned on running out.  You just didn't know what was going to happen next,” he said.

According to the roommate,  the suspects hit someone who was treated by emergency workers before making off with wallets, a purse and money.

"This is his last day.  It's graduation day.  It's supposed to be a happy day.  Then when you're moving stuff out in the middle of the day light at like 1 o'clock, right when you think nothing wrong is going to happen, two guys come into your house with a gun and a knife,” he said.

The roommate wishing to stay anonymous says that his friend he lives with was able to make it to graduation, albeit distraught and shaken up.

Oxford police are investigating the robbery.
