Police say they have arrested two suspects accused of stealing six exotic birds from the Newport Aquarium's rain forest exhibit.
The man and woman -- whose names are not being released, pending charges -- are accused of taking the lorikeets last Friday while a school group was passing through. Surveillance cameras taped a couple making what looked like a quick exit to their vehicle.
Aquarium staff, working with Newport and Sharonville police, traced the couple on Sunday to the Sharonville Holiday Inn, which was hosting an exotic bird show. Police say the suspects have confessed and the birds were found in a Warren County home. They appeared to be in good condition.
The suspects face charges in both Kentucky and Ohio.
The Aquarium is reviewing its security procedures.
