Seventy local veterans flew to Washington D.C. Tuesday for a lifetime Honor Flight trip.

The trip was paid for through the inaugural honor run half marathon and two person relay that was held in November.

More than 1,000 people participated, raising $27,000 for Honor Flight Tri-State that would allow veterans to go to D.C. to see their respective memorials.

The veterans will fly out of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport at 7 a.m. and will return at 10:30 p.m.
A special ceremony will be held at CVG in their honor.

This year, the 2015 Honor Run Half Marathon and Two Person Relay is looking to double their attendance and their donation to Honor Flight Tri-State.

The marathon will be held in November.
