WARSAW, KY (FOX19) -
A missing 13-year-old Gallatin County girl was found safe Wednesday morning after she went missing for nearly 20 hours.
Madalynn Daigle was located about 9 a.m. walking in a heavily wooded area near her house, Gallatin County officials said.
She was wet and cold with scrapes and bruises, but otherwise in good condition, Sheriff Josh Neale said.
Authorities think the teen ran away and slept in the woods all night.
She was reunited with her family and taken to an area hospital.
Overnight, dozens of people from across this community - police, firefighters, paramedics, school board members and residents familiar with the area's heavily wooded, rural terrain - turned out to help the search.
Her backpack was found outside and near a neighbor's home around 8 a.m.
Her parents also turned over a second backpack belonging to the teen that contained her notes, a map, food and a fire starting kit.
The notes supported the runaway theory, the sheriff said.
