AVONDALE, OH (FOX19) -

An 8-year-old boy who went missing for 14 hours overnight was found safe by 8 a.m. Wednesday, Cincinnati police said.

Deshawn Foster was located at a friend's house on Reading Road near Crescent Avenue, where he spent the night, the boy's father told FOX19 NOW.

Family and friends launched a searched after he vanished about 6 p.m. on Reading Road near Hutchins Avenue.

The boy has disappeared before recently and may be looking for his father, police said.

But the boy's mother, Nicole Officer, said he was never been gone this long before. She also said he was not looking for his father.

"We had multiple people outside searching for my child for hours. He left with some boy around his age and they walked off somewhere," she told FOX19 NOW early Wednesday. "His father and aunt joined in on the search."

She issued a plea: "He is on a lot of medication. He needs to come home."
