The Covington Police dog who was shot last month received a special gift from another member of the force on Thursday.
A new dog bed was presented to Ernie on behalf of Wilmington Police dog Karson. Karson made national headlines in December when he was found safe 61 days after he chewed through his leash and ran out the front door of the Clinton Animal Care Center.
“K9 Karson is still bringing out the good in people and still touching lives of many,” said a member of the “Friends of K-9 Karson” group.
The group brought Ernie's new bed to the Covington Police Department and the dog didn't hesitate to test out the gift.
After undergoing surgery, Ernie returned to the force several weeks after being shot.
