FOX19 -

When a 9-year-old student was bullied over his new haircut, an incredible teacher came to the rescue.

Fourth grade teacher Tori Nelson noticed her student Matthew crying outside a Winlock Miller Elementary School classroom last week. Nelson told KCPQ that Matthew refused to remove his hat after another student had given him a hard time about his freshly buzzed head.

In exchange for removing his hat, Nelson made a deal with the student.

"After talking to him for a while, I finally said, 'If I let you cut my hair so it's just like yours, will you come learn with us and take your hat off?'" said Nelson to KCPQ.

The timid student agreed and Matthew took the scissors and clippers to his teacher's head after lunchtime. His fellow classmates watched the haircut and cheered him on.

“It was a lot of fun for the kids, and it helped Matthew feel better about himself,” Nelson told Yahoo Parenting. “You have to do what it takes to reach children. Teaching isn't just about reading and writing, it's about self-esteem and accepting differences.”

The story has spread and Nelson says the emails and positive feedback she's received has been overwhelming.

Standing alongside Putin, Trump steered clear of any confrontation with the Russian, going so far as to question American intelligence and last week's federal indictments that accused 12 Russians of hacking into Democratic email accounts to hurt Hillary Clinton in 2016.
