LOCKLAND, OH (FOX19) -

Police hope to talk to a man and a woman Wednesday as they continue to investigate who shot them inside their vehicle on northbound Interstate 75 near Davis Road Tuesday.

The highway shut down for more than three hours after Nake'La Williams, 24, and Thomas Evans, 28, were shot at by a passing vehicle just before 11:30 a.m.

The gunman, who was behind the wheel of a dark-colored vehicle, was armed with a semi-automatic weapon.

Williams and Evans did not return fire on the attacking vehicle, according to Lockland police.

The couple went to area hospitals with multiple gunshot wounds. They are expected to recover.

The highway was closed just north of the Cross County Ronald Reagan Highway until 3 p.m.

Multiple agencies including Lockland police and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
